After the cataclysm, North America suffered from a surplus of hairy barbarian men and a severe shortage of fertile young women.
Among the small fortified camps that did not fall under the domain of the Sons of Death confederation of warrior tribes, was one built around the pre-apocalypse technology campus of the inventor, Aegon Must. His team of tech geniuses applied themselves to the problem, and invented the Rapid Converter machine, which could in the blink of an eye convert low-value Sons of Death barbarian prisoners into high-value fertile females.
Captured barbarians once converted to women were put through a re-education program, to transition them from the status of dominant male to passive female. The funds from selling the converted soon transformed Must's fortified camp into the first city of post-apocalypse North America. Meanwhile the Sons of Death began to shrink in number as Must's mercenaries gathered ever more product for conversion.
