When St Anne's Psychiatric Hospital opened in 1903, Orderlies would strip and tie-up new patients on admission to prevent self-harming. After its closure in 2003, there had been rumours anyone foolish enough to enter the abandoned hospital had received the admission process from the ghosts of the orderlies, and quickly found themselves naked and bound.
When the decision was made to demolish St Anne's and replace it with the new City Park, warnings that the ghosts might continue to process 'new patients' that entered the gardens were dismissed as nonsense.
