Gholdengo Has Been Found Murdered
On October 3rd 2023, recent OU staple Gholdengo was found murdered in impossible circumstances at Smogon HQ. The body was discovered that morning by the building cleaner Rillaboom, who had come in at 7:00 AM only to find that the door to the rec room had been sealed by unknown means. After trying and failing to get inside (the key to the room had mysteriously gone missing), Rillaboom was forced to use his much famous Grassy Glide to break the door down and enter.
Inside, Gholdengo was found crucified to the wall, his hands and feet pierced by what was found to be heated rods by out of dirt (believed to symbolically represent his weakness to Fire and Ground types). Filling the rec room was a veritable ocean of Spikes, Toxic Spikes, and Stealth Rocks, all of them undisturbed, paired with the scattered furniture of the rec room. Gholdengo's prized surfboard was also found broken in two, having been used to keep the door shut. As no formal autopsy has been carried out yet, the cause of death is unknown.
According to witness testimony, Gholdengo, along with the other Top 10 of OU (Kingambit, Great Tusk, Iron Valiant, Ursaluna Blood Moon, Ogerpon-Wellspring, Iron Moth, Gliscor, Dragapult, and Cinderace) had gathered at HQ as part of Kingambit's controversial rumored plan to create "The *real* OU". While none of them have yet been interviewed, security footage confirms that no one entered or left the building between them gathering there and Rillaboom's arrival.
Great Detective Garganacl and his dashing female assistant Ribombee have been assigned to solve the case.
