I can't believe that as soon as I returned to my hometown, the elders approached me to tell me that it was my obligation to participate in the local festival. Since the customs here are very old, we still have to wear these old-fashioned clothes. Worst of all, I'm the only woman among half a dozen old, hairy, sweaty men. I feel their gaze sweeping over me like I'm a piece of exposed flesh. All of this is supposed to thank the fertility gods and give them an offering, but I wonder what that offering is?
