They remind me of how Yukito Kishiro draws lips for Battle Angel. I don't mind them but I definitely prefer when Ryuko and Lady Satsuki have sharper features.

I don't think so, Ryuko and her sister Satsuki look better with sharper features no debate so not really a matter of taste, if you want more pillow like lips it looks better on his other rendition of characters.
