When a dark skinned character gets their skin tone slightly lighter, it's unacceptable and is considered whitewashing
But when a white - or, even better, asian - character gets their skin tone changed to dark one, it's totally fine

^^^ if it helps, Yoshi is around the same skin color as nagatoro in the actual series, more than black. Maybe Indian, or latinian. But I can't tell for sure.

For those unaware, this is an homage, or at least drawing uppon Mahmapuu's black Nagatoro series, which started as a tongue in cheek alt artwork of Nagatoro, but became a fun series, so atributing any kind of malice here is dumb.
