In my game, there was a soldier that the Vipers always went after. They would even forget about my other soldiers just to bind that guy.
Because of that, he killed alot of vipers and the game him the nickname "snake tamer". Made sure to have him in every playthrough

Viper Life Hack: Let your venom sacks fill up; humans will do nearly anything for you. Humans cannot distinguish between male and female vipers, so it works equally well for boys and girls.

During the events of xcom 2, they are either made in the advent facilities using human hibrid dna or being taken from their own planet. The only male viper was created by doctor vahlen and we kill him in the game.
Now after xcom 2? I'm not sure. Chimera squad never gave us much detail about the aftermath of xcom 2

^ Well there was a male introduced into the game through a dlc, the viper king it was a boss and in its bio it says it was a female turned male, and that there were empty eggs found in places,so yes there is a male viper, only one, and he does indeed get all the bitches

^Therefore we can assume that the aliens were controlling how the viper species procreates, likely having males in captivity as a source to create more vipers for whatever reasons. Maybe they are too unpredictable?

I believe like some species of snake and lizards the vipers can reproduce a sexually or by parthenogenesis
Basically making a little mini clones of themselves with eggs
