There is a universe in the SCP canon where the Foundation started being cruel, depriving anomalies of rights, and torturing them unnecessarily. It did NOT go well for the Foundation, as seen in SCP-1730.

LOL, yeah, reading is hard. I'm sure there's a TikTok video summarizing it somewhere, for those without enough attention span.
In short, though, SCP-1730 ("What Happened to Site-13?") details an alternate universe where the GOC and SCP Foundation merged. The new overseers of the SCP Foundation stripped human anomalies of all rights, started conducting unnecessarily torturous experiments on SCPs, and eventually just killing large numbers of them. Said experiments resulted in a number of SCPs that were once (relatively) safe developing extremely dangerous properties. Eventually, things went wrong - partially through the intervention of a female researcher who objected to how the humanoid SCPs were treated (and who was herself subjected to a humiliating punishment for her views). All of the now extremely dangerous SCPs broke containment and ran roughshod over the site (Site-13), killing most of the personnel and resulting in the site becoming dislodged from reality itself. The site ended up in 'our' universe, where it was classified as SCP-1730.
