I understand that ai uses real artists' work to "learn" from, but I was under the impression that most of it wasn't direct copies, but amalgamations of other art that it pulls from based on a description
You're correct @jojofebreeze , AI doesn't directly copy artists' art. I really dislike how the conversation over it has often been focused on whether it is "stealing" or not, and not whether it actually helps bridge the gap between one's creative consciousness and its actualization through application onto medium (Along with several corollary questions: If it doesn't bridge this gap, can it? Should it? Regardless, what role should it play in the creative process, if any?).
@jojofebreeze and @KDGrrang, y'all are missing context. This particular image is directly copied from 3037451 so the "amalgamation" discussion doesn't apply here.
