Both Assmore and Tutori are wrong indeed, just like both Asgore and Toriel were wrong in the canonical Undertale. Everything could've been fixed if the left the males die out of old age but walking through the Underground as they wished, then again it's obvious that after the death of the Royal heirs, all monsterkind was angry and devoid of hope, so even then, Asgore only did what could've been done, same for Assmore. If they said "Let's forgive this, alright?" monsterkind would've overthrown him just like they did in many neutral endings Toriel related. This was the only choice available after the death of Charnis/Chara and Angel/Asriel, due to the anger of the entire Underground, no one would've accepted to leave the fallen ones free roam until they died of old age and could gather their souls.
