fun fact: a house fly will only mate one in there life time, approximately 38 days, but the female will store sperm inside herself to produce multiple batches of eggs. Each batch will number around 100 eggs and she will produce around 500 in her lifetime.

fun fact: due to there short lifespan and small genome flies are frequently used as test subjects in genetic engineering experiments. This has led to flies with no external genitalia, others wings instead of legs, and a species with no eyes.
