There are some legitimately good HMVs but this is not one of them. The biggest problem with most HMVs is they generally have awful music selection, have terrible editing, and many of them rely heavily on the same ol Fap Hero shtick. You know what I am talking about. That dumb thing where they add a metronomic "beat" on top of the music which completely clashes with the actual music. And then they also have that stupid side scrolling bar with """"beat"""" indicators that scroll by when the shitty overpowered kick drum they're using as the """"beat"""" makes a sound. This kind of thing is entirely unnecessary because music already has a fucking beat, it's called the pulse and THATS what you're supposed to follow. The best HMVs I've ever seen are the ones that rely heavily on good editing to follow the natural pulse and rhythm of the music they're using. There is no dumb scrolling bar, no overpowered fake and wrong "beat" added on top of it. The editing is done to make subtle visual indicators that adhere to the pulse of the music, and the clips are interpolated and sped up or slowed down to follow it. Any HMV like this is instantly s-tier even if it has shitty music. I swear the people who make most HMVs are not musically talented people whatsoever. "Fap to the beat" and the "beat" they edit in isn't even the beat of the damn music. Have these people even listened to music before? What sucks is a lot of the big names who used to make god-tier HMVs don't seem to be around anymore, and I don't know where to find their old stuff. This post brought to you by a musician.
