We always play beauty as more of a con/cha skill. Plenty of very charismatic people re as ugly as sin, and plenty of bleached blondes out there who are about as interesting as an in grown hair

Yeah, but how much of that is players who want to keep Charisma their dump stat without having to deal with the consequence of their character not being hot enough for their own liking? I've seen a lot of people homebrew rules about beauty (especially prior to 5th Edition D&D where it became THE spellcasting stat) just because players wanted to have that cake and eat it too.

You can be dumb as a stump and still have a knack for languages, but I've never seen a group homebrew around the Intelligence prerequisites because of that.

There's nothing homebrew about it, Charisma was never intended to relate to attractiveness in 5E.
