"Canon", noun, a term referring to the plot line of an intellectual material, describing what truly happened and what did not. An event that is "canon" exists/occurred in the main continuity and affects the storyline. An event that is "non-canon" did/does not. "Canon" is irrelevant in terms of shipping.
