I capped at about 1000 subs at the height of my YouTube popularity about 9-10 years ago. Which admittedly, was a number I was fairly proud of since the platform was much smaller back then and I only made three substantive videos before getting wrapped up in college.
I did an "Abridged Series" back when those were exploding and had a reputation within that community for being a good editor and having densely packed dry and perverse humor in my own content. I also had one of the founding members of Team Four Star in my show's cast.
Ultimately I became more known for my work on projects other than my own. I made quite a few logos for other abridged series as well as during that time making the logo that ultimately was used for a used game trading store. I appeared as a voice actor in several series and one-shots including a couple staring roles. Made a lot of good friends, met the only girl I've ever truly loved, and pulled from that circle of abridging friends to make an incredible, absurd, and hilarious tabletop rpg campaign.
Suffice to say I didn't make a single red cent from doing any of it but it was certainly worth my time.
Congrats on even getting that far. People like me are struggling just to get noticed, let alone entertain a massive audience. Have you ever thought about going back and making more videos again?
