Normal: Skitty ~ I think it’s adorable and back in the day it was the only Pokémon that could use Assist. Also Normalize was a pretty good ability in my eyes, except when you’re fighting ghost types.
Water: Kingdra ~ Seadra was pretty forgettable in Gen 1, but when it got an evolution I was stoked. Clair and Juan’s Kingdras were annoying as hell to fight, but I love how it was barely weak to anything before fairy became a thing.
Fire (Least Favorite Type): Torracat ~ Incineroar is powerful but too slow for me. Torracat however really fits my playing style: it’s super fast and it hits pretty hard.
Grass: Lilligant ~ Lilligant is just really pretty to me and I absolutely adore its shiny form. The combination of Own Tempo and Petal Dance is satisfying to play with and being able to sweep by boosting with Quiver Dance is great.
Bug (Most Favorite Type): Masquerain ~ I’m a sucker for Pokémon with Quiver Dance XD. Even though it’s really fragile, I love it’s speed and it has a pretty nice Special Attack stat. I also love it’s giant eye wing things and how it gets Intimidate because of them. Though, I grew up with Emerald so I never got to catch a Susrskit until Gen 7.
Flying: Unfezant ~ It sucks that it doesn’t get Brave Bird, but I love being able to use things like Sky Attack and Night Slash with a scope lens and Super Luck. Plus the male’s mask is pretty cool looking.
Fighting: Hitmontop ~ I love seeing it spin, especially in the anime. Plus I love the concept of Triple Kick and how it gets stronger after each hit, especially after its Technician boost. It’s a pain to evolve Tyrogue into it, though.
Electric: Galvantula ~ I’m terrified of spiders irl, but spiders in Pokémon are pretty cool. I really only use Galvantula for Thunder and Compoundeyes, which is a pretty deadly combo. It’s also a useful Sticky Web user.
Ground: Steelix ~ I just love Steelix’s design and how it’s this towering hunk of metal that destroys anything in its path. It’s pretty underwhelming to use in battle, same goes for its mega, but I just think it’s fascinating to look at.
Rock: Gigalith ~ I love the crystals protruding from its body and it looks absolutely beautiful when it is shiny. It gets Sand Stream as of Gen 7 and that makes it even more of a wall than it already is, so that’s cool. And to top things off, it can learn Gravity which is useful for landing Stone Edge and other inaccurate moves in doubles.
Steel: Bronzong ~ Bronzor is a pain to evolve, but it’s well worth it when Bronzong is a pain to be taken out. I love how well it uses Gyro Ball ( not as well as Ferrothorn though) and its access to Trick Room and things like Confuse Ray and Hypnosis.
Ice: Glalie ~ This Pokémon looks truly terrifying and I love it. It’s not the most powerful Pokémon, but I like how you can shape it to be either physical or special. I personally love exploding in people’s faces especially when it mega evolves.
Dark: Drapion ~ I always wanted to use one in Gen 4 only because it got Cross Poison, but I never had the patience to actually train a Skorupi. I think it’s cool how its only weakness is ground and how annoying it is to take it out because of this. I usually give it a scope lens and just hope for the 25% crits from Night Slash and Cross Poison or an attack boost from Fell Stinger.
Psychic: Tapu Lele ~ I think Tapu Lele is really cute <3. Also Psychic Terrain is pretty useful and makes it terrifying to go head-to-head with one in battle.
Ghost: Banette ~ I really like its mega evolution and its raw attacking power, like it’s way more powerful than you’d expect from a doll.
Poison: Dragalge ~ Skrelp is a complete pain in the ass to evolve, but I love the design of Dragalge and how specially defensive it is. I’m just a sucker for seahorses and seadragons.
Dragon: Kommo-o ~ I love its signature move Clanging Scales, I think it’s really neat idea. It can also learn a nice variety of moves and how tanks it can be especially with an assault vest.
Fairy: Ribombee ~ Very frail, but really fast and hits pretty hard. This is one of the few Pokémon who really benefit from having Shield Dust, being able to land a minimum of two hits most of the time by having a focus sash and nbding able to not flinch from moves like Fake Out. Not to mention, Rimbombee is just super adorable.
