Gonna start
I was sitting on the bench as the black haired girl sat next to me. Her skin was pale, her clothes as black as her hair. The ankh around her neck was silver like moon.
I knew who she was. Why she was here. It was alright.
“Did I do well?”
She sat there, looking at the people, the kids playing, the dogs running.
“We all get one. That’s it. Nothing more nothing less.”
“I guess that’s true. Tried though. Mind if I stick around for a little longer?”
“Times up.”
In the distance a little boy was throwing a frisbee. His little dog was running, trying to catch it for his dear life.
“I know. I just want to taste it again. But I guess many ask that”
She nods.
“What do you say?”
“Depends. Some cry, some beg. Some walk, some try to run. And some like you just take it in.”
“Just a moment?”
She nods again. The dog had found the blue disk, eagerly bringing it back to its owner.
“Do you like it?”
“She pulls her legs closer, wrapping her arms around it”
“Depends. Sometimes it’s fair, sometimes it’s not. But it’s always just”
“I think many would disagree”
“Sure but eventually I meet them all”
A grin runs over my face.
“Good point I guess”
“You ready to go?”
“No. But I have to.”
She nods as we get up.
“So did I do well? You never answered that?”
She takes my hand and I never want it to stop. But all comes to an end.
“We all just get one. And you did.”
