61. What is art standard? what are they?
We warn on the upload page and in the Terms of service that all art uploaded needs to be of good quality and of a high art standard.
This means essentially anatomy should be good, line art should be accurate, smooth and good and shading and coloring of a high standard.
What standard? someone would be willing to buy it is the standard, we can be able to look at the line art and see it is done with care and finesse, we can look at the anatomy and see it both accurate and well placed that makes sense, we can see the coloring and shading also makes sense and looks good, it does not have to be exceptional, just good enough.
I think it's not really possibly to break it down anymore than that, yes it's subjective, yes although we do our best to be unbiased, nothing is really is, personally I know that non bias in judging art is impossible, every mod is an experienced user of the site who knows art very well and some are artists themselves, so at least they know art.
We could use some sort of mechanical scoring system, but we don't have time, this system of checking art is designed to be fast and process allot of images, because we get allot of images.
Allot of what we do is purely based on the manageable processing of content, other sites that don't have insane traffic and large volumes of content can take more time and care, but that is not our reality of this particular website.
We have allot of learners and those who don't realize they are still in need of more practice, we keep their works from this website not to be mean, not to judge, but to keep them from negative feedback that might make them give up.
The last thing we want is to discourage artists, but if we do not uphold art standards, the comments will not be kind to them and we would struggle to deal with that and we don't want learning artists discouraged and upset by that either.
