One of those facts isn't correct <.< you can play offline, but you have to get online once per day! XD

Once a day must connect online means you can't play offline. it's all or nothing, you can't have half measures :P, how can you even defend that, do you like being told what to do? do you like being a slave to Microcock?

Shitty internet? going to the boring countryside with parents? well tough shit, your xbox becomes a brick, how fucking lame is that.

Ehh, you say I'm being a slave to Microsoft, but in turn, does that mean you're turning into slaves for Playstation? Anyway... I play games for the fun of the games, not name brand-specifics. If a game sounds interesting and it is console specific, I might buy it. So bitch at me all you want!

Microsoft has back-peddled.
Thread needs updated information.

Microsoft reversed its position on the Xbox One's DRM system.

- No more always online requirement

- The console no longer has to check in every 24 hours

- All game discs will work on Xbox One as they do on Xbox 360

- An Internet connection is only required when initially setting up the console

- All downloaded games will function the same when online or offline

- No additional restrictions on trading games or loaning discs

- Region locks have been dropped

Source: www.giantbomb.com/article...on-xbox-one-dr/1100-4673/

Sony really rattled Microsoft's cage and made them look bad. Good. Gamers win in the end.

Let me help you out of that dream right away, gamers didn't win. Microsoft finally realized that they weren't going to make any money from the Xbox One, so they back peddled their stuff. Who says they won't try this shit again at another date? We know how Microsoft is. We talked with our money, not with our minds.

Plus, the damage has already been done. The PS4 is going to have a better sale and the Xbox One is still weaker. So, if you're going for power, it's the PS4, going for some experimental gaming, try Wii U.

Sorry to be depressing.

I would not be surprised if they added extra restrictions and drm later once everyone has bought an xbone, this company can not be trusted.

The Xbox One won't have the draconian DRM it was originally going to be shipped with, which means more freedom and more choice for consumers. How else would you describe it? I certainly wouldn't call this development a "loss". Less DRM is a *good* thing.

Who says they won't try this shit again at another date? We know how Microsoft is. We talked with our money, not with our minds.

That isn't something exclusive to Microsft. Sony is just as capable of pulling the same bait-and-switch because they're a mega corporation, just like Microsoft. They're not out to be anyone's friend.

Sony pulled the plug on open source platform support for the PS3 despite initially supporting it, and implemented updates to enforce that restriction.

Back in 2001, Sony used the DMCA to remove the free software tools on Aibohack.com that helped Aibo robo-dog enthusiasts expand the Aibo's capabilities. So Aibo owners were limited to buying Sony's own (less capable) $150 Aibo software kit. Nice thing to do to your customers who shelled out $2,000 for your robot dog toy. :-P

I would not be surprised if *either* Sony or Microsoft back-peddle at some point if they believe that less restrictive DRM is hurting their bottom line too much.

The only thing you can trust mega corporations to do is what they've always done: whatever's in *their* best financial interests.

Fortunately, Sony (and now Microsoft) believes that rolling out their consoles with less restrictive DRM is a strategy that will best serve them.

Plus, the damage has already been done. The PS4 is going to have a better sale and the Xbox One is still weaker. So, if you're going for power, it's the PS4, going for some experimental gaming, try Wii U.

Judging from the tone of your post, you seem to be under the impression I'm a MS/XBox fan. Nope... It's always been about the games for me, and not so much about the platform.

I just figured people would be interested, even happy, to hear there'll be even less DRM to get in our way with these next gen consoles.

FYI, my first next gen console purchase will be a PS4. That's primarily due to Sony's stance on DRM right out of the starting gate. That move deserves support.

Fun fact, Sony owned the patent for the software used to block the sale of used games. They sold it to Microsoft. Here's your Trojan horse.

The PS4 is cheaper than the Xbox by $100, will have similar capabilities (remember when everyone was saying the PS3 was better than the 360 graphically? and vice versa?) The only thing that makes the Xbox One worth getting is the fact that Microsoft still has Microsoft Studios, 343 Industries and such. Halo fans might buy the Xbox One for that but fans such as myself who care more about the company that made Halo (Bungie), will likely just be playing Destiny on the PS4 or PC.

Sony owned the bullet and loaded the gun that Microsoft used to shoot themselves in the foot. Killer move. :)

I always found those comparisons pretty silly because they generally contend points of graphical minutia that no one actually notices during game play.

Unless it's something highly tangible, like a considerable drop in frame rate, the net effect of these points of contention fanboys like to throw around ultimately do not amount to much at the end of the day.

While the PS4 does have the edge, the better specs on the PS4 won't magically render the games on the XBox One horribly unplayable. I think games will end up looking great on both consoles.

Now that developers have a more unified and standardized architecture to work with, I'm hoping this'll translate into decent console-to-console-to-PC ports.

I'd prefer to play Destiny on my PC but there'll likely be a tonne of hacking, as well as a smaller online pool compared to the console versions. It'll likely be PS4 for me when it comes to Destiny.
