[RP] Silent Hill
I've been binging on this series and I'm starting Homecoming tomorrow, so I thought I'd start an RP. This will be serious and somewhat like Abigail's Haven RP in terms of tone and expected literacy, but anyone can join if they have a basic understanding of the setting. For those that do not, let me provide some exposition.

The Town:

Silent Hill is a resort town on Lake Toluca, somewhere in the northeastern United States. It consists of three 'levels'. On the surface, it's a regular town like any other. To those that are called to it, Silent Hill is a ghost town wrapped in perpetual fog. Strange creatures prowl the streets and the architecture and landscape seems to conspire against 'visitors', leading them towards anything between death to self-realization. The third 'Otherworld' is a hellish nightmare borne of a visitor's worst fears and darkest thoughts. Very rarely, a visitor can move between the worlds at will using a focus, but it usually only occurs during moments of great stress. The monsters here are violent and grotesque, it is wise to avoid them.

The Call:

Victims of Silent Hill feel drawn to the town and will find excuses to enter, arriving in the fog world. Often brought for a reason, these lost souls may not leave until whatever issue that attracted them is dealt with once and for all. Failure usually means death and madness.
A local cult worships the Otherworld and can shift at will, exhibiting minor control in areas not dominated by Alessa, the powerful spirit of a little girl murdered by her own mother in the Order. In her domain, things are generally more malicious and spiteful, but she's likely to spare those that she pities. Areas not controlled by the Order or Alessa are controlled by the town itself, the motives of which are inscrutable.

Sample Character:

Name: Simon Carraway
Age: 20
Job: Student
Affiliation: Neutral
Vices: Coward, Aloof
Virtues: Inquisitive, Stubborn
Drawn by: Guilt.
Tormentor (if any): Pyramid Head

You can start at any Fog World locale that you know. If you don't know any, you start in the forest path outside town. Monsters are dangerous, but killable. Fight, but don't always expect to escape unscathed. Tormentors chase you based on your reasons for being drawn or your vice. You can't kill them unless you realize why they're after you. Characters can interact and work together, but should separate periodically. Remember; you're nuts, you just haven't realized it.
With all this aside, let's get started, shall we?

Maybe start off so we know how you want this handled.

The steady drip of water from the trees. The gusting wind blowing through the empty eaves. The soft damp fog blowing off of Lake Toluca. And most of all, the eerie silence that pervaded everything.
Simon experienced it all has he sat on the hood of his stalled buick, staring down at the town below the bluff. He didn't know why he'd come here, only that it felt right. In a world where nothing had any rhyme or reason, one had to cling to the few good hunches one could get.
He shivered as the wind blew through him, calling him, and buttoned up his coat. With a sigh, he started walking down the forest trail into town.

A Thought
Wouldn't we already know why our tormentor is after us since we are the authors of our stories? Would I be out of line to suggest that you could give people interested in the RP their own tormentor and the reason they are going after that particular character would be hidden to the author? For example, my vices could be lust, pride and lying, but I wouldn't know which of this crimes I would be punish for? I guess the main thing I'm saying is, what's to stop somebody from writing a quick story about how they knew what they were guilty of and just killed their tormentor and left instantly.
If that makes sense, anyway. I've only played two Silent Hill games, so I'm only slightly familiar and would be interested in trying this out.

Honestly, I'm kind of new to DMing an RP. Please forgive my numerous cock-ups and inconsistencies. There wouldn't be anything stopping someone from doing that if they wish to, I certainly wouldn't be upset about it. If someone wants me to roll up a tormentor for them, I'd be happy to oblige. It's certainly not 'out of line' to suggest a good idea, heh heh. Anything else you think I could fix up before anyone starts playing?

Not particularly. If I say something really far fetched let me know. Like I said, I've only played the first Silent Hill and Homecoming, so I'm not the leading authority on Silent Hill.
Are there any particular rules you'd like to point out though?

I think that's about it, save one thing. Go easy on superpowers and non-humans, please. The biggest appeal of the survival horror genre is having normal men and women trying to cope with insurmountable odds. How scary would it be if James Sunderland just drew a massive katana from a magic portal and cleaved Pyramid Head in twain? Not very, I'd imagine. Remember that you are a (physically) normal person up against something hideously powerful and act accordingly. I'm not going to penalize bravery or badassery, just keep things -sane-. Save the magic for your monsters.

Okay! And I'd hopefully like to add something about it not become some over the top sexual RP, if that's possible. I realize it's R34, but I hate when story gets taken over by needless sex, hahaha!

(Wakes up) Fog?! What the hell is this? (Sees a woman talking to you) (Gasps) Excuse me, who are you?
