Talk about the sci-fi genre

Anyway, am I the only person here who hated the late 2000s (noughts?)/ early 2010s trend of dystopian sci-fi in Young Adult Literature, at least regarding those made in the English Language?

Nope. Early 2000s young adult dystopia novels are like, clones of each other. The hunger games is the only series of YA dystopian novels that I enjoy tbh

I hated Divergent, especially in retrospect for being a giant cliché storm

Either the world has gone to crap or its already gone to crap.

Why wasn't there more variety?

Mmm, personally I tend to stay well away from YA dystopian novels, generic as shit all of them. I do like wh40k, I just got rogue trader for Christmas and it’s been very fun so far

I really like whatever the type of sci-fi that Pokémon, Digimon, Yu-Gi-Oh and Mega Man fall under is.

I mean they got plenty of sci-fi. Yu-Gi-Oh is like half fantasy half sci-fi. Pokémon is like casual sci-fi, that kinda takes a backseat to the monsters, but the world and tech is pretty heavy on fantastical technology.

I hate that every sci-fi utopia showed us that we could have robots and AI do laborious work and we could create a world of trades culture and art and music.
But nope we got AI drawing fake boobs

I haven't read any of those, but I'm gonna take a wild guess and assume that the authors of many of them saw the same societal trends at the time and made similar predictions for the future.

Technically, fantasy can be anything and Sci-Fi is effectively fantasy in the future and with technology instead of magic. Not all fantasy is "wizards and dragons in medieval europe".
