E3 was dead the moment major devs decided to pull out years ago. The last decade or so was just the sputtering corpse of its livelihood.

It used to be the biggest gaming expo of the year

I do miss being able to see "almost" all new game announcements and trailers in just a few days instead of having to view a bunch of smaller ones spread out over the year, especially since a few of these smaller game announcement events are often underwhelming, but overall, it's really no big deal that it's gone now.
