Not really. Most of them keep a separate portfolio for free stuff where they post commissions or teasers, or they keep stuff time locked on Patreon, where having their membership gets you access to it much earlier than their public release.

Artists have to make a living, too.

if someone didn't care about their monetization being undermined they wouldn't paywall it in the first place.

think about it like this: if you went to a con and saw someone selling merch they made, do you think they'd be okay with you taking it off the table and handing it out to passerby?
