ToS Watermark Question
I am new here, and I noticed a bit too late that the ToS states that watermarks are against the rules, yet there are 900+ results for watermarks, and the ToS entry pertaining to it is a little confusing when coupled with that. So, is there any right way or wrong way for watermarks on images, or are those submissions not supposed to be here?

900 watermarks? That's an unsubstantiated amount until you tell us what you searched for to find those images.

As for a watermark, it's basically when someone has altered or added an additional stamp (typically a website address) or watermark (a watermark is a faint partly transparent web address or name stamped on the image) to the original image for their own publicity, we generally don't allow the changing or tampering with of original art works.

Some stamps and watermarked images may belong to a company or artist that has requested we do not host their images, in which case we will take down the image, if not then it will probably be left up.

I simply searched "watermark" in the search and they were there. rule34.xxx/index.php?page=post&s=list&tags=watermark and the correct number for all results with that number is 980.

Thanks for clarifying that, I was wondering as some of the works I have include some written text on the piece itself who drew it (usually initials or a screen name) so those types are generally okay, then?

So it's okay for the original artist to put a watermark or website on their images and post them here? I plan on posting some of my work on here soon. I just want to make sure if I do decide to put a watermark or something people won't all get mad at me for doing it wrong. If you can, could you show me some examples of the right way the watermarks should be done. Thank you. :)

Yes it is entirely OK for the original artist to watermark, providing it doesn't go over half the picture and covers it up.

We are mainly concerned with secondary watermarks placed by people who aren't the original creator (we don't approve of people getting credit or messing around with artists original work), or large pay websites who may object to their images being uploaded here on copyright grounds.
