Whenever I try to directly upload an image downloaded from Reddit, i get this error:


Why does it do this?

That means the specific image you're uploading was banned, or it's an issue with the formatting. I had an animation I commissioned give me that same message recently, even though it hadn't even existed a while earlier.

So this is one of two things, either the image is a direct violation of the TOS and was already banned the last time it was posted, or you need to post it in a different format. Only post it in a different format if you're absolutely sure it doesn't violate the TOS.

Yeah, it probably has to be something to do with the formatting. They upload just fine when I put them through Waifu2x.

I've only had this issue with video uploads, and like everyone else has said it's far and away unlikely to be an actual TOS violation/content ban, especially since the videos in question were posted later by other users without issue. A few people have chimed in about this happening with different types of uploads and frankly it seems kind of random for who it affects and how, but you should be able to circumvent it easily enough of it's just a basic image upload.
