So, Charles Martinet has stepped down as the voice of Mario, and has now taken the role of "Mario Ambassador". He voiced many characters of the mushroom kingdom and much more outside of just Nintendo games and media, even has a world record for the most video game voiceover performances as the same character. How do you all feel regarding his stepping down? It was bound to happen eventually of course, but I hope with Mario bros wonder and having a new va, it marks a good beginning for a new era of the iconic mustachioed plumber.

No but in all seriousness, I don't think Pratt was a very good Mario personally. If somehow the new va we heard in wonder is Pratt, people are about to ask why he didn't do a voice like that in the movie. Though iirc, I believe the voice director or lead or whatever role it is didn't want the normal Mario we hear in games, nor something like the more Brooklyn accent we heard in the cartoons. Still don't like Pratt as a va, though.

Sooner or later Charles would be replaced, sure. The issue here is that voicing Mario might not be a easy task, at least that's what i believe. Let's see who Nintendo will choose. And remember, it's not just Mario, but Luigi and some other characters he voiced as well.

i do hope charles has a wonderful retirement. dude deserves a massive break from voicing mario and friends for many years. while he may have made our childhoods, i do hope the new VA will carry on his legacy well!
