Video Games to Movies
Any games you'd wanna see adapted to film and do you have any ideas for the specifics?
The only thing that comes to mind for me is a series of films (Preferably animated) adapting Illbleed, a hidden gem of survival horror on the Dreamcast that has gotten a lot of attention over the last decade.
Each installment would adapt 1 stage from the game with each ending on a teaser for the next (Intro and The Homerun of Death -> The Revenge of Queen Worm -> Wood Puppets -> The Killer Department Store -> Killerman -> Toy Hunter in: Cork goes to Hell -> Michael Reynolds Museum and Final Boss then the TRUE Final Boss)
Intentionally bad acting and i'd want it to be done using Dreamcast graphics if possible and if it weren't then intentionally bad CGI as well.
If you've never heard of it Supergreatfriend did a let's play of it that's 1 of my favorite LP's.
Also although i'm not a Metroid fan a 2D animated movie of it done by Genndy Tartakovsky would be fantastic.

Final Fantasy 6. Either 2 movies (World of Balance and World of Ruin) with most sidequests and all optional characters left out or a TV series with many (but not all) of them intact.

I suppose a lot of JRPGs could be translated to movies since they often resemble graphic novels with extra steps rather than games.

Maybe Carrion or either Papers, Please or Please, Don't Touch Anything. These retro titles are weird, and I think they could translate well to film with some editing to the story they already have.

Eh. I haven’t seen a movie based on a video game that I was impressed by. TV shows though, especially animated ones, have a much better track record.

I feel like Maniac Mansion could work as a cheesy low budget horror comedy or adult swim style mini series.

The movie was shit but I think if done right Assassin's Creed could work as a GoT style HBO thing. Having it jump between the sci-fi abstergo stuff and multiple other time periods with the stories overlapping could be interesting.

I also think Night in the Woods could work as an animated movie with a similar art style to the game.

The best approach to doing a video game movie or series is the same that's been happening with comic book movies. In that you don't do an direct adaption, you just pick different bits and pieces. You go on YouTube and watch a cutscene comp, it can be like a 2 hour video and you don't have the context that comes from gameplay.

Trying to adopt narrative focused games these days has the problem of there's too much so something is getting cut out. You can make like a trilogy of movies trying to cover a JRPG. Something to the benefit of Mario and Sonic is since their series are a bit loose when comes to things, what didn't make it in isn't the biggest deal. Zelda could work as can pull different ideas from different games and it can mesh well.
