A friend going through a breakup sucks because you can't actually do anything to fix it. I offered to kick his ass but she for some reason doesn't want him hurt

He begged her for an $800 laptop for his birthday, gets it then ghosts her for 3 weeks before breaking up with her on Instagram. I have never heard of someone getting dumped in Insta DM's.
A carrier pigeon with a breakup note attached to its leg is more respectful.
Morse code is more respectful.
He's basically choosing violence and I'm not allowed to enact it

Hit him where it really hurts: Don't get violent, just get back the laptop. :)

My idea was actually to pay a B&E artist to break in and smash it. Nobody gets the laptop!!!

Cute, but Thermite is a little tough to come by, plus we don't know if he even has a car. If he's in an urban area and has to scam a girl to buy him a laptop, I'm guessing he doesn't.

Flashy and definitely a statement/warning, but why waste a perfectly good and nearly new $800 laptop? I'm sure the lady in question could either sell it to recoup some of her money or just use it herself.

Powdered aluminum and iron oxide, 1:3 ratio by weight, just gotta know where to buy the aluminum and for the iron oxide just chip rust off something and grind it down. But yeah, fair point.

She has an even more expensive laptop because she's that type of "gamer". Also he was waiting out the return policy, I think

Gotcha. Here it's 90 days on most things but usually less on computers. Still, $800 is enough to sting even if you can afford to lose it.
