Up until the Role playing no one ever seem to comment on pictures. Those who do are mostly visitors and most users are only here for a favorites gallery. I've been here for a month had have over a 100 tag edits while others have none.

One reason you keep seeing there comments is because nothing is there to break them up.

I'd catch the occasional one-liner in the comment section. Then JFK began to drop some insidious one liners. And that started a chain reaction that could snowball onto other images. The comment section could then become one big circlejerk instead of actually discussing the image, giving source or just cracking a joke.

While harmless, I never understood the need to announce your personal fantasy to an image to a group of strangers. I suppose it enhances the experience but I find the notion of going "man, I'd so totally love to lick Faye Valentine's feet" or some shit to be silly.

Ultimately? It's like the horrible dialogue found in western adult comics as well as doujinshi. You either skip the text bubbles and focus on the action or you allow it to ruin your experience. Some people take their like of something to the extreme like that, I guess. You know?

But holy shit it's almost like a plague. The max pages I've seen this go up to have been nine. *Nine*. And now it's starting up on another one. But, yeah, the admin aren't bothered by it so that means we have to learn to either avoid the comment section or not scroll down so far.

What have I done?
I only come here because it has more tags then Paheal, but soon I notice that someone (JKF) would comment several pics in a row after someone else did(which he also does on Xbooru and Gelbooru).

For fun I'd make comments to see if he notice them after he started to Role play electrochamp. It worked so I made an account and continued while helping out out with the tagging.

I bumped Reiq's pic Alisa where another user (YaoiLover) notice and wrote a paragraph in return JFK did the same. FOXHOUND, JFK, and electrochamp started doing the same on other pics while getting encouragement from patrick153 and myself.

What they write is often repetitive and OOC, which I never realized until this point

So you're saying you encouraged them to do this, then more people joined but you never realized that it was all circular circlejerking? Hah.

I've already said what I wanted to say. I feel if I go any further that I, too, would begin to sound like a broken record. And the comment section on gelbooru is, most of the time, fucking awful.

The intent was to make a comment, leave, and see what happens.
I never really read what they wrote until the other day. It was a joke to see to if any one would react to it. The fact that a thread was made makes it a "success".

So then you're proud of what you did? This is fucking ridiculous.

I've seen it on other booru's. The "fantaics".

Though most people can enjoy something without being batshit insane about it, there are some who can't, and they ruin it for everyone. Thing of it is, the more of these people there are, the worse the overall quality of the fanbase is.

Wow im surprised this has blossomed as much as it has, but again i'll refer to one of my earlier posts. SOME roleplaying is fine its just knowing when you should stop or give it a break is the key and from what I've seen so far the individuals don't possess that. I'm not into roleplaying but don't knock somebody who is its just in the past i've seen the majority of RPers get out of control with their comments and thats how i see the average RPer, a fanatic who doesnt know when to stop. Are there Rpers out there that know when its too much, i'm sure there are but i havent seen one yet.

I'm not proud about how this turned out. What I'm trying to say is that I feel responsible for what's happen. Your absolutely right about fanbases there's no argument about that.

Don't feel that way, Lunatic. When it comes to a fanbase you can always group it into four categories:

Obsessors: These are the guys who put ketchup on everything, if ketchup was a particular interest of theirs. Get what I'm saying? Basically, they take one thing they like and combine it with anything new they encounter. Usually everything new. For a good example, go to deviantart and search for the name of your favorite comic/cartoon with the words "Sonic the Hedgehog" added at the end. Note how the artists feel compelled to add Sonic or their OC into everything else they happen to like. They refuse to enjoy anything different, and always have to have that familiar element in any media they find.

Second up is Social or Sexual Deviants: Honestly they're more often the social deviants than the sexual ones, but for good reason. Sometimes it's legitimate illness, or sometimes it's just immaturity. Like obsessors, they reject anything that isn't familiar to them. Also they always try to seek each other out because they want familiar company. They commonly form communities where everything must be tolerated (as they can't stand being driven out) and nothing is ever "too far."

Third personality are Jokers. Remember how the cake was a lie? And over 9000? How about troll face? Arrow to the knee? To a Jokester, the joke never stops being funny. They have very little restraint, but to be fair they're usually pretty young. Even so, there are enough of them who really have no excuse. They make the same jokes over and over at every opportunity and only stop when they find a new joke to obsess over. To them, nothing is a bad idea and everything is roll-on-the-floor funny. Everything.

Fourth personality is the Attention Whore. Not as in girls on 4chan or over Xbox Live, I mean the person who just needs to make sure you know what they think, and they need to be ABSOLUTELY sure that you know it was them saying it. These guys (and Jokesters) make up like 90% of comments on youtube (fake statistic). On 4chan, they are typically the tripfags. Attention Whores are either loved or hated, but they are obsessed over either way. They encourage similar behavior out of the other three categories.

I did say to keep the posts to a reasonable level, if there is pages of rp comments, I may have to remove some, since it's good to have some regular comments inbetween.

My only critique is what do you have against paragraphs? without them it's a wall of text that is rather unreadable.

Deviants want to seek each other out (why else would we all be talking on a porn site?). They have to make themselves known (over and over) until they find others that tolerate them. Once they do, they tend to stick together and form sub-communities in a larger community. They do this for protection, as their behavior is tolerated unquestionably. If you've ever insulted a furry (over anything) online you know how fast another one comes to help out, and how nothing (except for idea theft) seems to be off limits to them.

These sub-communities end up being what I consider the main factor in splitting or ruining a fanbase/website. Because everything Deviants to has to be tolerated, the culture changes and mutates quickly, a bit like cancerous cells in a body. Very soon you get Attention Whores and Obsessors generating content (in this case roleplaying). If anyone takes offense, they respond with "It's just a joke, calm down" and keep going. It quickly stops being a joke when Jokesters get a hold of it, and when Deviants push the limits even further. Also due to the tolerance in the sub-community, most of the fetish stuff happens here under the guise of a joke.

So the short version here is that weirdos group together and tell each other that they're being normal. Because none of them have any sense of appropriateness or restraint, they keep pushing the limits of what they can get away with. Attention Whores with artistic talent end up overshadowing actual artists because the Attention Whore is better at seeking attention The sub-culture mutates because, again, no one can say "hey maybe you're taking this a bit too far." If they do, the response is "It's just a joke, no one actually likes this" even as others respond letting everyone know how hard their dick is. For example, marshmallow flavored pony semen is advertised as a joke even now, despite the fact that most of the people creating it are also masturbating to it.

Now back to the main point. Some of you might say "We usually chase these people away and they get their own board/booru or something, it's not a real problem."

But once the Obsessors have been chased off, we here stop caring. When they come back, it's easier for us to do exactly what I did. "Yeah this fan base is getting too weird. I'm just going to stop going to these comment sections/threads and keep this shit private." And when that happens, the fanbase goes sour.

Of course it's equally possible that, for whatever reason, this never happens. Sorry for the long-ass text. I honestly thought I was alone in this.
