I got one question... What in the name of cake does 6942 mean? It doesn't make sense to me. At all. And I don't see the similarities when I search for the tag :/

Making sense. You're doing it wrong.

What does "iwabner" mean? I've seen it on occasion and it confuses me.

Dumb Newbie Question here, I've seen the word "aliasing" bantered about, and while I know more or less what it is (inclusion of tags with a similar meaning) how is it incorporated into a search? Is this a search option I don't know about? Is it something that is done automatically by the booru's S.E.?

Something else?

Aliasing is when tags that mean the same thing are automatically converted into the preferred tag or term.

Here's a list of aliases

Edit: I somehow deleted my second paragraph, lol.

When you search for something like tifa, the system will still recognize it as tifa lockhart and show you results with that tag. On the other hand, if you search for something like tif lookhert, it probably won't recognize it because that particular tag/search term hasn't been aliased. Some aliases cover more tags than others, just about every variation of "blonde" gets translated into blonde hair.

No extra steps are needed on your end. It's automatic.

God. Why did you necro a thread from 2012? Locking this. Aliasing is related to tagging, if you have further questions please ask the the tag discussion thread here:
