Our old thumbnails and samples images were based on the original type of the image. Aka a .png image would have .png thumbnail and extension. This is extremely inefficient as this could make little 150x thumbnails as large as 100kb. By converting them to jpg with 80% quality you have no visual loss and the thumbnail goes down to 3-7kb. This saves us a big chunk of storage and b/w.

This conversion could take a day or 2, while its running you won't be able to upload but the site will stay online.

Thanks for flying rule 34, after the conversion the thumbnail pages will load faster then ever.

Put the site back to live but thumbs and samples are still generating so if you go deeper then 25K posts in atm its not going to show thumbs just yet. Its gonna to take a few days still.

For the mods, untill notice is gone do not perm delete any images or its going to fail.

Thumbnail generating is taking a LOT longer then expected. Added a process percentage on the notice.

Short version(as far as I understand it): All the thumbnails are being converted to .jpg format to save space. This might take a few days. While they're being converted, most thumbnails won't appear.

That sounds about right. We need to be patient and let the admins do their thing. Everything should be cleared up in due time.
