Seeking advice to get into adult entertainment
I'm decently hung (8" or 20cm), have abs, v-shaped pelvic muscles, relatively handsome, etc. and I'm thinking of making an onlyfans or something like that. I'm purely a top though, and I presume that most of the revenue made from porn is from guys fapping to people they can't fuck, so I'm pretty sure my potential audience would be quite low. That said, I do have a few fuck buddies that might be open to fucking on camera, though they'd likely want to hide their faces. I'm just thinking about making some extra money lately since it's been a rough year for me and my personal life (death, divorce, debt, etc.)

I suppose to put a finer point on the topic: I'm looking for advice, especially from content creators, on how to establish and build an audience? Considering we're all suffering through economic inflation that's making us feel like we're in a recession, I don't know if this idea of mine is even worth attempting.

Im not into the amateur industry, but i think it is worth nothing that almost anyone can do content, because even those that fill a certain niche can find much success.

So if you are unsure, id say still go for it, and see how it goes. Sorry im not much help

From what I've seen most OnlyFans models and a lot of professional porn actors have a Twitter/X presence, so maybe contact one or more of them directly and ask how to get started, what you'll need, what to look out for, etc.

I've heard the site JustForFans give a bigger cut of the proceeds to creators than OnlyFans does, but I can't confirm that.

Several male porn actors such as Delta Bravo, Deviant Otter, and Maverick Men (a couple) got their start on XTube before OnlyFans was a thing, so they might have particular insight on this subject.

Content creator here. It's definitely not easy to get into, especially if you don't have any prior media presence. 2 selling points to go for as a male looking to get into it is really either getting hot girls in the video, or going solo and pandering to a gay audience. Finding your niche can also help, in general if your aim is to make some money you should start off getting yourself out there though.

If you'd like some more in depth help feel free to DM me

Thank you very much for the helpful replies! It's reassuring to have some helpful insight, so I am grateful for everyone's time and attention.

I'm doing my homework on JustForFans now... I can't make a call on that one yet, though onlyfans probably gets more traffic anyway, so I'll have to weigh the pros and cons there. I usually fuck females, but I am what they call a "gynephile" so I'm happy to fuck femboys or trans women, as long as they're bottoms. It might be easier to just go solo for a while and pander to the gay audience that wants to watch me jerk off. I've gone dark on social media for a few years, so it's going to be funny to anyone in my personal/social life if I suddenly reemerge as an amateur porn star. I welcome the chaos though!

UPDATE!
I just had a forehead-smacking moment: voice acting! I was just browsing around, and I saw how many pieces of content that Oolay-Tiger has under her belt, and I popped over to her onlyfans to see what a successful content creator looks like.
I was instantly interested when I saw her introduction: "I am Oolay-Tiger, here to tantalize you with the most ethical type of porn...erotic voice acting!" Granted though, I'd likely have to lend my voice to cater to a gay audience, and that's fine by me. I have some experience with webcasting, public speaking, etc. and I've had compliments on my voice in the past, so it may be sexually appealing to a wider audience than I'm giving myself credit for.

Well, it's just another branch of the broad idea really, since I've been enjoying smut of all kinds for over 25 years. Writing erotic fiction seems fun, but probably not something that's profitable, though I do enjoy writing, I'd prefer to have a legitimate novel under my real name.

At first, I'll need to invest in a cheap camera or microphone, whether I go for making videos or pursue erotic voice acting... Hmm, I suppose my initial first step is to try to drum up some interest before I actually invest. But it's an idea that I just can't get out of my head... I'd like to start doing it while I still look young and have some sex appeal.

Pseudonym?
I'm thinking what sort of stage name I should have. Since I'm nearly middle-aged but look young I suppose I could have 'daddy' or 'zaddy' in there, but that always comes across as pretentious to me. Like kids who put "god", "king", "emperor", etc. in their usernames or gamertags and such.

I suppose I could lean on the fact that I'm kind of like the male equivalent of a shortstack? Short, well-toned, and surprisingly hung for my size.

Or, I could lean on the fact that I'm an unashamed nerd, probably bring in support from my fellow gamers, book nerds, music geeks, etc.

Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome.

Agreed. There is always the old "Combine your first pet's name with the name of the first street you lived on" way to do it, in which case my porn name would be Yukon Alameda. You could play around with that a bit and use a different street or pet in case your official one is something like Mitzi 124th Street. At least that's a good place to start.

In general, go with a name that's unique but easy to spell.

You already have more in common with a lot of male porn stars than you might realize, then. Since both doorknobs and kitchen counters are a standard height in the US, you can extrapolate a porn star's height if you see them standing next to either one and most aren't very tall at all.
