Pikmin, despite reproducing asexually appear to have sexual reproductive organs. Their purpose is unknown as they are unable to fertilize one another. However often I find Pikmin of opposite "sexes" engaging in intercourse with one another. In my observations certain kinds of Pikmin have higher male/female or female/male ratios than others. Yellow Pikmin are predominantly females, Purple Pikmin are predominantly male and so on. After intercourse a Pikmin will enter a dazed state for a few hours before blooming a flower. However I don't suggest letting Pikmin make love shortly before sunset as the particular aroma seems to attract the predators of the night. Not a fate I'd particularly enjoy, but such is the short life of a Pikmin.
