i was playing on the chess app (the popular one, with all the different bots/cpus n online matchmaking and stuff) on my phone and saw an opportunity to do an en passant. it didn't work? does it not have en passant?

^ chess.com has en passant (unless you're playing in a custom game with it turned off), but the requirements are:
a pawn uses its double step move to move to the same rank as an enemy pawn, so that it COULD have captured the moving pawn IF it had moved one space instead. then, en passant can be performed ONLY on the move DIRECTLY after that. if you wait, you can't do it
alternatively, it could have been a move which would have put the king in check, which is an illegal move, and therefore the website didn't allow it.
