Folks, I've been seeing quite a lot of legitimately thoughtful and technical critiques of Dmitry's work, and seeing how invested many of you are in his work from a strictly artistic perspective is pretty interesting. Keep doin' what you're doin'!
I'd like to ask you, though: because this work is pornographic, do you feel that the hyper-attention to detail and realism (that I often see you discuss) yield greater sexual enjoyment? Of course, traditionally speaking, the points you bring up, if taken into account, would make for a great illustration, but would it make for an arousing one? I've always sort of assumed that a of lack of realism (or, at the very least, a stylized sense of realism) is what made pornographic drawings so enjoyable (at least for me, it is). I'd love to hear your thoughts, and please forgive me if I appear rude, disingenuous or condescending; as a fan of Dmitry, I'm curious.
Pornographic art is still art, and I'm past the point of being turned on by cartoons. My favorite explicit artist before I started following DmitryS was Drew Posada. I do find highly stylized and sexual work from artists like The Pit and Kras(h) to be hot as well. They have a certain amount of realism, but none of them are fap-worthy to me.
Rule34 is intended as a porn site, but since they have a lot of DmitryS' work for free, people come here to see it. I'm one of those who really only come here for DmitryS. Nothing and no one else here has grabbed my interest.
Great question and answers! It's good to know that people still think on this planet. I'm not a psychologist, and I'm not trying to relate Freud directly, but I think some of Freud's theory is applicable here. I think that cartoonish and fantastical images appeal to the subconscious and immature "id," while realistic and detailed images appeal to the conscious and mature "super-ego."
