Fun fact: the idea of a witch riding a broom is actually a misdirection. The original idea was a witch riding a wooden shaft carved to look like a penis on one end. The broom part came from witches CAMOFLOGING these shafts into brooms by putting a brush on the carved end. So, many early (eg: the 1400s CE) have them ridding their "brooms" backwards, brush forward. All this to say, this is actually mythologically/folklorically accurate.
