^ "african-american" means "person of african descent who live in america" so of course you won't find them anywhere else. If they lived in Europe, they'd be african-europeans. If they lived in Canada, they'd be african-canadians. If they lived in Australia, they'd be african-australians. You see a pattern yet? This happens with other races as well so it's not a black thing. If you want a word that refers to all people of african descent without simplifying their identity to a color, use negro.
