Pegasi can fly near the sound barrier, some faster than it. Presumably Twilight and Celestia can travel through time. Even if you read the materials that go with this setting, it's completely impossible. Of course these people assume based on how often the alicorns are captured or incapacitated in the show it just takes one "smart" bad guy, but the writers of the show frequently underutilize the full power of the characters to teach a lesson, because it's a show for six year old girls.

This is the shit you get when a grown adult thinks they're being smart with tropes.
