Or maybe because Fox is from a different planet in a different galaxy they might have different names for things.

And it wouldn't make any sense that they just have different names for things when they all speak English and most of the other names for things are the same as it is in real live. The names for things like lasers, missiles and bombs are the same. So it can't just be they have different names for things. If that was the case it would be in a language no one would understand. Nintendo just fucked up really bad. DX

Would you walk up to an australian wearing flip flops and say they're wrong for calling them "thongs"? They speak english as well yet have different names for some things, who's to say cornerians (residents of Corneria, like Fox) are any different?
Also, Fox only speaks english in the english versions of the game. If you play the japanese version he speaks japanese.

1.long thin piece of leather: a thin strip of something, especially leather, used for fastening or supporting things.
2.braided whip: a whip made of braided leather, cord, or some other material.
3.light sandal: a light sandal held on by strips of material that join the sole of the sandal at either side of the foot and between the first and second toes.
Flips flops do fit that definition. They are like thongs for the toes. They both have a thin strip of material wedged between a part of the body. XD So calling them that isn't entirely wrong.
But a "Barrel Roll" and an "Aileron Roll" are two very different maneuvers with two very different purposes. One was made for combat and the other just for showing off. It doesn't matter what language it is in. The Japanese have a word that means barrel roll "バレルロール" and a word that means aileron roll "エルロンロール". So they clearing know their is a difference in the two to have a name for each of them. What they did in Star Fox is call one thing, something that it is not. It's like if they called a nail, a screw, when there is a major difference in the two and they each have their own name.
A screw by definition is;
1.threaded fastener inserted into material: a piece of metal with a tapering threaded body and grooved head by which it is turned into something in order to fasten things together.
2.screw for nut: a screw with a blunt end onto which a nut is fitted to hold two objects together.
3.device similar to screw: anything that has a form similar to a tapering metal screw, e.g. a corkscrew.
A nail isn't like that at all.
1.short pointed metal pin: a strong metal pin with a flat round head and a pointed end that is hammered into wood or masonry.
2.something like nail: something that is like a nail in its shape, in being sharp, or in the way it is used.
3.hard area on finger or toe: in humans and other primates, the thin horny covering that grows on the upper surface of the end of each finger and toe.
So yeah, Nintendo got it wrong.

In Star Fox Adventures, they call the pteranodons "cloudrunners". Are they wrong about that as well?
