They aren't backwards at all. Just hyperextending the joints in a couple fingers.

Actually, Anon1's right. Look at how she's holding the staff. If her hand was on properly for a rakshasa, her thumb would be between the staff and the werewolf. Instead, it's between the staff and the lamia, meaning she's holding it human style.

And to add to anon 4's statement, the rakshasa's other hand is raised upwards, and the palm is still facing the inside of the arm, towards the shoulder, making it also incorrect.
