Your local wildlife
What are the most interesting/unusual wildlife species you've seen at your home?

Off the top of my head I can think of:

- common house gecko, I saw walking across my window once. I still wonder whether their skin is transparent, it sure looks that way : i.imgur.com/3r5zF2v.png

- gasteruptiid wasp. I wish I could find a video of these. the way they swing their legs when they fly is pretty unique : i.imgur.com/lqjQujT.png

I'll spare you the creepy crawlies I see on a daily basis >.<
Australian insects are serious business

down here in the country you hear and see all types of wildlife

the sounds of the owls mating.I once heard an orgy of owls outside fuking in the middle of the night

on the highways youll see roadkill.it was probably a squirrel trying to find his nuts.or maybe a raccoon.it dont matter the rednecks will scrape it off their tires and eat it for dinner.every now and then youll see deer crossing the highway.hell the damn deer have more sense than the human pedestrians.them pedestrians dont give a fuck!they want your moneys! every dime to your name i tell ya!

and if you dont clean up everyday those possums will pay you a visit and then youll have to whack em with a broomstick til they run out of your house and hell tell all his woodland friends that he hit that.

Haven't seen a lot of interesting, critters, but I did meet an opossum once, playing dead, and I've seen a few Luna moths.

Spider/cricket hybrids love my basement in the winter, black widows commonly nest in my shed, a predatory bird dropped a snapping turtle into my pool, and I saw a baby snake in my friend's basement.
I just realized that I've been in Maryland for 19 years and I've never seen a live crab...

lol that's nice, either bringing you a gift or finding a better habitat for the turtle

black widows commonly nest in my shed

I'd burn it to the ground

That was probably one of the most exciting days of my life because I had to evacuate all my little cousins while not getting bit by a terrified turtle. Then I had to get him out.
The Widows, I did actually get to use a makeshift flamethrower to clear them, but I couldn't just go pyromaniac. The shed's intact and they didn't nest last year, so we're hoping we finally got them all.

While spider cricket hybrids are not real, camel crickets are. They are seen to be hybrids.

That can't be though, cave crickets are insects, not arachnids, for something to be "seen" as a hybrid they would have to have a mixture of DNA types. It seems there are spider crickets (criders, sprickets) but are only called that because they look like spiders at a distance.

Let me rephrase. Spider-cricket hybrids are not real. People see camel crickets as hybrids because they look like them.

We call them sprickets. They aren't actually hybrids, but it's basically a spider with back legs like a cricket's. Nasty little buggers and jumpy as hell.
