lil fun question. While watching high octane jerk material, do u use any normal browser or switching to the TOR browser?

There is no need to use anonymous means unless your country has banned that kind of porn you like (I'm talking about porn that is between two consenting adults or drawn porn, obviously some porn is banned for good reasons.

Sadly there are countries like that and the list of banned porn keeps on growing... but really using a VPN is sufficient in that case, TOR is a bit slow for porn.

I feel like a dummy, but what is an isp?

Internet Service Provider...the company you get your internet from.

I use Tor quite a lot because I consider myself a privacy advocate. The more people who use the Tor network, the better it works. I'm not just fapping -- I am performing a goddamn public service here!

I don't think you understand how it works. More users = slower.

Well, then explain your understanding, how you come to this conclusion

The way I see it, speeds should (on average) stay around the same: with more users, there's more nodes to spread the traffic across, but also more total traffic.

The total available bandwidth between Tor and the public Internet is solely dependent on exit nodes.

Tor Browser is not configured to act as an exit node.

Therefore, new users are simply eating more and more exit bandwidth.

Fair enough then

Speed is not the issue for me. The point is anonymity. The Tor network provides better anonymity as the network grows. A lot of undercover journalists and whistleblowers around the world genuinely need all of the anonymity they can get and for all of the right reasons. There are also a lot of legitimate business reasons why people would want a robust and widespread Tor network. As a third tier of importance, there is us browsing slightly-embarrassing porn.

If I'm looking at or downloading porn that's not between two consenting adults, I'll typically use TOR or Freenet. Other than that, I just stick with Firefox the majority of the time.

And this is why some people should not be allowed to use the internet.
