I prefer some conversation first so I can get a feel for how much thought they put into their comments and descriptions.
The description is everything to me, so short things like 'i do the thing' are like a one-sided conversion, he's just jerkin' it waiting for something to read. Hentai-foundry has great material for that. I'm immediately bored and debate playing Minecraft or something.
I don't ask for pictures because I don't have any here to share in turn, feels like I'm being rude.

While being on f-list, I simply sets my status as "looking". :P If someone writes to me after this, that's cool. If not, that's fine too, as I usually search for more porn pics with Pokemon while waiting, so I'm not getting bored. :3

I check out the hookup thread and message those who I find to be interesting, and strike up a conversation to get to know them a little better before asking them if they would like to rp.
People occasionally message me with roleplay ideas as well, so there's that.

I'm passive in this area, mostly because I don't like searching the forum, or being on forums for long at a time (bad memories of early internet)

Typically I'll go through the site, looking at posts I enjoy, and I'll dm someone who commented on it. That or I'll use the RP request thread. Though recently I had someone dm me and we've been partners for a while now, but that doesn't exactly happen very often, so I'd stick with the first two.

I like to wait and browse the rp forum for a rp idea that piques my interest, or browse peoples favorites to see if I like their kinks. I might post in the chat/rp thread, my inbkx has been dry for days nkw.

Well I've only been here about a week, I've basically just commented on stuff in my persona I'm using on here, leaving a lewd remark directed at one of the RP accounts, and a few have started RPs with me in DMs

I guess I like laying out the bait and having them come to me (which sounds really bad but I can't think of a better way to describe it XD) rather than bothering them about it as I don't want to be a nuisance (except to the whiny anons that keep complaining)

I just check the RP request section occasionally and meet partners that way.

Once in a while I get a random message with a link to a comment I made on a pic and a naughty opening line, that gets an RP going, too. (These are my favorite)

Depends what they're looking for but to cut it to less questions due to people's lack of patience. I simply give out plot ideas and limits to see if that meet their needs.

To chatting, well that's tricky considering I've just met you. So I figured if looking into their favorites can likely find something we both like. We can talk about it. I just don't do that to new people, it's hard to know what goes on their mind since they have nothing on their profiles so I have no hints at all.

Aside from these forums and Discord, I also use F-List. Or rather, used to, before I nuked my old profile. Just never could really find a good partner, and the one that I absolutely adored ended up going MIA, so. Here we are. Still the same disappointment as always.

Also a big FFXIV RPer as well, so I use that game to get my fix sometimes. Though that's for story-driven non-erotic RP. 90% of the time.

And being someone that predominantly plays a male character, I'm the one usually approaching others for RP. Usually just come at others with a 'Hey, I'm interested. This is what I have to offer.' and see what they say. They're not interested? I wish 'em a good day and move on. Really nice the odd few times I get approached, though.

For chicks-
- Be literate and detailed, for the most part.
- Have ideas planned. Mainly involving lots of sex and/or degrading.
- Be a dom for 87% of them.

For dudes-
- Have a fat ass or a pussy. That's it.

I don't Rp myself but I wouldn't be so sure for "Mainly involving lots of sex" I once talked to a girl (sub) and she told me that she was annoyed that most guys focus too much on sex during RPs and she wanted to do more kinky things. Hell most submissives girls I talked to liked to talk more about kinks than sex.
So if you RP with a sub, don't just talk about sex, domination involve WAAAY more than this.
