More than half of the existing aliases are pending and need approvoal. Some admins should occasionaly look through them or give other people the rights to do so.
Its probably not the most fun thing to do but its also not that much of work.

my failure, confused it with the "Suggestion about the tags" thread.

I think the stickied "Tag Discussion" thread is theoretically inappropriate because its about tags not aliases and it also doesn't show up if you search for "alias" or "aliases"
