It's really cool to me that this thread, which I started over two years ago, is still being added to and that our continued discourse is a permanent fixture on the R34 forum. I'm very pleased that a lot of people have been able to take something away from this ongoing conversation, while adding their own valid opinions. This is the kind of thing that makes our online community a better place, not just for RP enthusiasts, but for everyone who believes in civility, friendliness, and maturity. No, I'm not saying me at all. I'm saying others. There are people that just want lewd messages. People will take up a request without knowing what the theme is simply because the requester was a girl for example.

Yea, totally agree. I suggest what kind of RP I want to take on but I people don't even read what I wrote. They simply message because I was the most recent person to update the hookup thread. The only thing they process is 'Girl + I like anal = Message her about anal.'

Though credit where credit is due, some people actually read it then tell me it as fun to read and THEN go straight to ignoring it and asking for whatever the hell they want.

Sadly people actually reading the post can't be made a rule necessarily. There's always going to be people like that. It's best to just quickly figure out with pms are which.

To me, and this is simply my humble opinion, the best RP experiences happen when the two or more people who are involved, are treating the situation as if they are collaborating on a single story. That's why (with or without the use of symbols separating narration from quotes) narration should be descriptive, imaginative, and well written (to whatever extent that is possible). I enjoy it the most when we are acting as if we are writing erotic literature. For this to work, the agreed-upon scenarios need to be understood an adhered to, and the characters must be well developed. Imagination is the only real limit. Having a grasp on the English language (if you are playing with English speakers of course), doesn't hurt either. We should aspire to create worlds within our collaborative fiction at the same time as we make it a sensually stimulating experience for each other.
