What the hell is the appeal of fakes?

What is this art style?
When I played MadWorld, I found its art style very interesting. There are images here drawn in a similar style. So my questions are:

1. Does this art style have a name?

2a. If yes, what is it called?
2b. If no, what should we call it?

I know Madworld was done to resemble Frank Miller's style. Not sure what you'd call it through.

The thing I believe most likely is that, seeing an attractive person in a non-sexual setting (i.e. movies, tv), it is only natural that one might fantasize of them in a sexual manner. "Fakes" can bring that fantasy to life, even if one acknowledges it to be a fake.



Research shows that MadWorld drew inspiration from Sin City, which drew inspiration from Film Noir / Neo-Noir, though this terminology seems to apply primarily to films.

There doesn't seem to be an overt descriptor of that artstyle at first search.

I've never seen that error before. What are you searching?
