How does a visual display (eg. gore) cause a physical reaction (eg. vomiting)?

Many humans feel like throwing up when they see something disgusting or gory, yet this has never happened to me. No matter how perverted, disgusting or gory, no display of any kind has any effect on me. This is something I've never been able to understand.

Well it all depends on your brain. It's going to register all the things happening....TV will rarely make someone throw up, that's only if whoever made what's being watched is super fucked up. If you're witnessing gore first hand, you'll smell it, see it, and dumbasses will taste it. XD

Feeling sick via smell makes sense to me, as it's a physical reaction caused by a physical substance. Also it is possible to taste smells. Being surrounded by rotting carcasses is enough to make almost anyone vomit. The smell was so thick the air tasted like blood, and it still didn't affect me.

In regards to TV, I was once in a classroom where someone played a youtube video of a someone letting a bunch of leeches drain blood from his eyes. 4 people vomited, I felt nothing.

I guess this means I'm really tollerant... or broken, 1 of the 2.

Did you know that Hugh Jackman is 6 Feet 2 inches tall? But the Character of Wolverine hes playing is only 5Feet 3 inches. Thats why they have to film him from special positions or people have to stand on a box while talking to him.

My Take On Visual Association.
For the visual stimulation, I believe that the placebo effect may play a part in it. In case you don't know, the placebo effect is basically the power of the mind to influence what we feel. Example, a doctor gives you medicine to make you feel better, but the medicine is just sugar pills. But you believe that the medicine will make you feel better, so when you take it you feel better because you expect to. In regards to visual stimulation, I believe that the same thing is going on. People see those things and they react the way they do because they believe that they should. As for how some don't react, I believe that it may because they don't see the visual as something to react to, but as a video or something. They're more grounded in reality in that respect. But then again, this is just what I think. It may or may not be true. I hope though that I made things at least a little bit easier to understand though. ^^

Did you know...
If you kick a man in the balls hard enough to kill him, the most likely cause of death by far would be a heart attack?

As any man knows, getting kicked in the balls hurts a lot. The sudden flood of pain signals causes your heart to beat so fast that it redlines.

Redlining is when your heart is beating so fast that it can't control itself and can't pump blood around the body properly. For a 25 year old human, this is ~180 BPM.

First you feel an unbearable level of pain that knocks you to the ground, then your heart beats out of control, your limbs go numb, then your heart gives out, making the cause of death: A heart attack.

The lesson: You gotta always protect your McNuggets.

Easy way to protect your Mcnuggets, if you think something is coming (knee or foot), put your left foot infront of your right or vice versa, you can then turn faster than someone can kick and they will kick your leg instead, if they don't kick they will ask what the hell your doing, just say you lost your balance for a second, or make it look like your about to leave, sideways stance is always best in confrontational situations.

Antisocial doesn't actually mean someone who isn't social, but rather goes against the established rules or norms? While not always the case, an antisocial doesn't even need to appear "lonely", as they could just as easily trick someone with a fake personality.

Misanthropy would describe someone who hates and/or fears humans or other people, making autophobia a close relative.
