Thinking about writing a book
I feel like if I post anymore about it, I’m going to start getting a reputation but whatever. Who cares?

As I have mentioned at least five times on this web site, a very big fantasy of mine is being indoctrinated into a sex cult or other new religious movement. Now, the important part is that I have created 9 different groups all with their own unique practices, histories and characters.

If I were to write a book featuring all of these groups, all strung together by one guy going through all of them in succession. Do you guys think people would read this? I don’t know, I feel like there isn’t really a place for this kind of book in the world of literature right now.

My man, honestly, go for it. If it doesn't do good, why the fuck should you care? You've written a book, more than most people have, you have lost nothing and only gained more writing experience, the Mona Lisa wasn't ol' Vinci's first work.

So, first, even if the world of literature doesn't want it, write it because it is in you.

Second, write it because you would enjoy it! I'm sure it could find an audience, but you are it's first and most important audience.

Third, finish the draft before you edit. I like giving myself time limits. 30 days to finish a novel.

I fancy myself a bit of a writer and here's what I've learned. The most important thing is passion. If you like writing the book, and are willing to put in the time to make it happen, then that's the crucial thing. Do it for yourself alone, and for the love of the craft, not for an imagined audience. If and when you've finished writing, maybe pitch it to a publisher, but not before that. Commercial success will follow from that if it happens. Don't walk before you can run.

Plus, the internet is FULL of projects like this. Look at all the doujinshis.

If you put yourself into it you'll certantly come out with something actually good, especially if you're working on it for all this time

Go for it!!

There are tons of ways to self-publish these days, especially if it's even remotely RPG related. Do what you love and go for it. What's the worst that could happen?

Does it matter if other people like it? Write the best story possible and let it find its own audience.

Not Lady Bird Johnson?

But seriously... write the book.
