i work at a pet store, there’s a dog wash in the back. once time a groomer was washing a big ol dalmatian, and the dog was a good sport about it til the groomer turned around to pick up something else. the dog made its escape. as she turned back to the bath this massive dog somehow stayed in her blind spot, and for a second she threw up her hands confused. then the dog accidentally nudged behind her and she stopped his escape attempt and properly buckled the leash on the wall this time. ^^;

god please don't make this turn into a zoo thread please don't make this turn into a zoo thread

ok enough praying !! i used to have a small kitten, as well as several goldfish, a beta fish and a bunny. all my pets were eventually discarded by my parents though...... i would've adopted one rn, but unfortunately my current situation (that of a slightly broke college student) doesn't allow me to. i'll have to wait until i finish my studies so i can actually feel safe to adopt a pet - the last thing i want is to adopt one and not have the means to care for it :(

My family had several goldfish when I was small, I was too young and too autistic to really understand how to care for em so my parents would feed em and so on. None of em really lasted all that long from what I can remember. Eventually we stopped buying fish and nothing since then. I always wanted a cat but my father is allergic to em, so no dice

i put it in the original post fs NO ZOOOOOO PLSSSSS!!

but yeah honestly it’s commendable you’re waiting to sort things out before getting a pet. broke my heart when quarantine happened and half a year later tons of dogs with Game of Thrones names got dumped back into shelters :(

what are you thinking of getting as a pet once you have the opportunity? ^_^

I have a cat. She's cute, quiet and well-behaved, unlike most human women

I had a dog for 12 years, he was the reason i was staying alive and i lost him to a chronic heart disease that was genetic and discovered too late by vets… he passed two years ago march 30th on my fathers bday. Truly unfair to lose him that way since he was super healthy and energetic overall. But i’m glad to have so many good memories with him even if it’s painful to remember sometimes. I also had a cat for 3 years who disappeared one day and I never found him again despite searching day and night for months and also having had a search dog map out the area he was in. I feel like im cursed sometimes but I hope I can get an akita inu and another cat once i graduate and get a job. Then i’ll at least have plenty of money to get tracking collars and stuff.

Birdkeeper here!

I have an awesome cockatoo named Marley. Had him ever since he was a baby, and he's 16 now. He is, without a doubt, my best buddy. I call him my feathered son. He gets into so much mischief, but is also very loveable. He likes to see what people are doing, even getting up on the living room sofa's armrest and pecking at visitors' arm for attention. He doesn't bite at all, has a lot of little bird toys, and I even got him some wood to chew on when he needs to "trim" his beak.

Ugh dude. Had two pitbulls, such sweet dogs. They passed away some time ago though. Otherwise, I've had rabbits, hamters, got 4 cats rn (long ago used to have around ten or eleven, most of em were outside cats we took care of), got a ball python and a wood gecko. Rn, got some baby chicks and turkeys, and getting a coop set up for em, with an electric fence to help keep out bears, coyotes, whatever might try to get em

Had a cat. Had to give him away due to familial disagreements. Sucks, but he's with a close friend that let's me check up on him often

Once my big black and white cat went from laying between my legs, when i was laying down to sleep, to stretching out across my face, he was a long haired cat so it was so soft and warm, i honestly wish he would've done it more.
He disappeared a few weeks after my dad died, my other cat went shortly after.
Meanwhile the ones that do nothing but dart into the house uninvited, refuse to leave and shit everywhere are alive and well.

I have a bunch. 2 cats, 2 birds, and a gerbil. But my mother has a third cat and a dog, so. Shrug.

that...is not a cat. you cant just walk in here, claim to have a cat, and describe anything less than the prince of the underworld disguised among men
