For me, when a brand tries to use/do a trending topic or meme in an effort to look more "humane"

Vegan imitation foods retaining the name of whatever they're imitating.

Shop: This is "impossible beef".
Me: Does it contain any beef?
Shop: No.
Me: Then it's not beef. Stop calling it beef.

The late stage capitalist society under which we live. I'd say that's pretty cringe

Kind if a dumb idea if you are looking to make your meat substitutes appetizing and familiar. Naming them like vegan meat substitute isnt going to be appealing compared to impossible chicken

This one is very general and ambiguous: people who try to change a system or say something outright doesn’t work with little or no understanding. Especially well established things

That's one of the reasons why some cheese now says "imitation" iirc

Or they could drop the charade and call it what it actually is.

I have heard that some places classify american cheese specifically as a "cheese-like product".

But that is what it is, impossible beef, copying the texture flavor and consistency of beef. Wouldnt make any sense to call it something else as that would only confuse customers.

Simple. Call it what it's made of. Beef mince, beef pies, beef steaks, etc. are named that way because they are made of beef. Impossible beef is not made of beef so calling it beef just because it superficially resembles beef is false advertising.

If it was false advertising they would be taken to court. Obviously they are not being taken to court

This one is always silly to me because a lot of people are vegan or vegetarian for ethical reasons or because meat grosses them out. If they're not gonna eat a dead animal, they're not gonna eat tofu dressed up like a dead animal. Just sell them plant burgers and hype up how tasty or nutritous the plants are.
